About the design

The famous KAISER idell lamp is characterised by Christian Dell's ability to create an elegant design using the essential elements of Modernism: geometric shapes. Today, KAISER idell is widely recognised as a symbol of noble Bauhaus design, exquisite material choice, and precise engineering. The Luxus table model became the main model in the series shortly after its original launch in 1936, exemplifying the graceful and uncluttered style that defines the collection.

This iconic lighting piece combines technical functionality with timeless aesthetics, featuring a patented asymmetrical dome and a swivel joint that allows light to be directed with precision, making it ideal for both work environments and sophisticated residential spaces.

About the designer

Christian Dell was born in Offenbach am Main, Hesse. He completed his silversmith studies at the academy in 1911 and, between 1912 and 1913, studied at the Saxon School of Arts and Crafts in Weimar. From 1922 to 1925, he worked as head of the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar, where he was responsible for a highly innovative and pioneering design style, leaving a lasting legacy in modern industrial design.
